NEWS (text/Peng En’ren  photo/Xu Kelan Chen Jingyi  Chen Xuxuan): On October 21, South Korea Wonkwang University awarded President of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute Ning Gang as Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy, the ceremony was held in library conference hall of this Institute. Secretary of Party Committee Jiang Weihui attended, and President of Wonkwang University Kim Do Jong awarded the Certificate of Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy to President Ning Gang. The ceremony was hosted by the head of Department of International Affairs of Wonkwang University Jung Chul Seung.

 

President Kim Do Jong warmly congratulated President Ning Gang, and said that the degree was awarded to Ning for his scholastic attainments in ceramic art design. The degree awarded represents pride of the two universities, not only indicates high recognition for Ning’s achievements, but would also play a leading and example role for young artists on their exploration road to artistic achievements. He also expressed his wishes for strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the two universities and achieving new heights through joint efforts.

President Ning Gang recalled his memorable studying and living experience in Wonkwang University, and said, “With long history of porcelain making and unique local environment for ceramic art, South Korea is an important branch of world’s splendid culture. Wonkwang University enjoys beautiful campus, strict management system, and high degree of internationalization. It’s my pleasure and honor to be awarded with the degree, which will be a spur for me in the future work and art creation, I will spare no efforts to promote friendship and ties between the two universities.”

 

Mr Ning Gang is the 104th receiver of the Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy awarded by Wokwang University, which had been given to three presidents of South Korea.
