Penalties for Violating the Rules of the University

1.       Students who fail to observe the rules and regulations of the University will be given appropriate punishments which may include ,but are not limited to ,warnings,demerits, probation or expulsion from the university .The penalty will depend on the degree of the infraction.

2.       The term of probation is generally for one year .For fifth year students who are about to graduate or complete their studies ,probation will not be included in the options for violators of the rules .The penalty the University gives in this case is limited to a demerit or expulsion from the University depending on the seriousness of the transgression.

3.       Any student who violates the moral integrity or the social ethics of China ,and is disinclined to relinquish such activities ,will have their status as student in the university terminated.

4.       The disruption of the teaching status quo, interference with instruction and agitation of the harmony of the scholastic environment shall include the following:

(1)    Anyone who fails to attend class ,congregates in an inappropriate and illegal manner ,or demonstrates and causes a disturbance,will be expelled from the University .

(2)    Students with frequent truancy or who are habitually tardy for class will be warned .If the student refuses to atone for the truancy and continues to demonstrate the behavior for more than one third of the total credit hours, they are subject to probation or even expulsion from the University .

(3)    According to the seriousness of the offense ,a student who insults or slanders others ,or disrupts teaching is subject to a disciplinary action exceeding that if a demerit .

5.       Any Student who damages the personal property of another or the common property of the University will have to pay compensation and may be required to pay a fine as an additional penalty

(1)    Student who cause damage to property of less than 100 RMB and refuse to acknowledge the mistake will be issued a demerit .

(2)    Students who damage public property of more than 100RMB or repetitively damage property and refuse to pay compensation for their actions ,are subject to probation or depending on the seriousness of the incident ,expulsion from the University.

6.       Depending on the seriousness of the incident ,Gambling ,drinking excessively ,fighting or picking a quarrel are subject to a warning ,probation or expulsion from the University.

7.       Instigators of physical confrontations who demonstrate an inability to cease such behavior despite various reprimands and punishments will face expulsion from the University.

8.       Behavior such as violating fire safety and electrical safety regulations pose a risk for fire ,and those students who demonstrate such behavior may receive a demerit .In the case of an actual fire ,the punishment will be probation or expulsion from the University in addition to compensation for damages .Any criminal behavior is subject to criminal punishment.

9.       Students who fail to pay tuition and hostel fees as required ,are subject to expulsion from the University and their residency permit Jingdezhen will be canceled .

10.   Depending on to the seriousness of the offense ,anyone who disobeys the regulations concerning campus accommodation ,rents a house outside the campus ,violates the rules of the Laboratory or teaching buildings ,or ,insults teachers or administrators ,may be subject to probation or expulsion from the University .

11.   Those who leave the campus and Nanchang without approval or those who have an approved request for leave but fail to come back on time without an approved extension renewing the request for leave ,will be issued a written warning if they are absent between one to three days ,probation for being absent from four days to one month or subject to expulsion form the University if more than one month .

12.   Any students who break the follow rules will be expelled from the University:

A.     Students who commit a crime under Chinese law

B.      Students who break school regulations resulting in a serious consequence

C.      Students engaged in cheating in an examination, which may include but is not limited to ,using crib sheets ,using any electronic device such as a cellular phone ,obtaining an advance copy of the exam by nefarious means ,or sitting in on an examination for another student .

13.   Anyone who has been expulsion from the University should follow proper procedures for leaving the school within the stipulated period .The resident permit for Nanchang will be canceled by the Nanchang Municipal Security Foreign Affairs Branch .
